Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions just revealed the first photo from the dramatic film, All is Lost, withRobert Redford back in front of the camera in a starring role. And not only is Redford playing a lead role, he's the only actor in the film.
All is Lost was written and directed by J.C. Chandor (Margin Call). The open water thriller finds Redford playing a man lost at sea and forced into a life or death battle against the elements.
Commenting on the end of production, producers Neal Dodson and Anna Gerb said, "After an intense two months of shooting on the water, we're headed home and have finished production on schedul. JC is making an audacious film with a brave performance at its center."

Jonathan Rhys Meyers Could Join The Mortal Instruments
Wednesday August 8, 2012
Usually we get our casting news straight from the author's blog, however the latest tidbit on The Mortal Instrumentscast comes from The Hollywood Reporter. THR is reporting Jonathan Rhys Meyers is "in negotiations" to play the part of Valentine Morgenstern in the film adaptation(s) of Cassandra Clare's bestselling young adult series.
For those not up on their Mortal Instrumentscharacters, Valentine is a major villain in the series and the ex-husband of Jocelyn Fray (to be played by Lena Headey). A powerful Shadowhunter, Valentine's goal is to destroy the organization that governs Shadowhunters and kill all the Downworlders (a group of hybrids that includes werewolves, witches, and vampires).
If Rhys Meyers signs on, he would be joining a cast that includes Lily Collins as Clary Fray, Jamie Campbell Bower as Jace Wayland, Robert Sheehan as Simon, Jemima West as Isabelle Lightwood, Kevin Zegers as Alec Lightwood, Lena Headey as Jocelyn Fray, Jared Harris as Hodge, and Godfrey Gao as Magnus Bane. Filming is expected to begin later this month.
Author Clare also just confirmed the addition of Stephen R Hart as Brother Jeremiah, one of the members of the freaky Silent Brothers group.

Joss Whedon Will Write and Direct Avengers 2
Tuesday August 7, 2012
And we wouldn't want it any other way... Disney made it official during an earnings call today with CEO Bob Iger: Joss Whedon will be returning to the franchise as the writer and director of The Avengers sequel. The question everyone (myself included) has been hounding Whedon with has been answered.
Iger also revealed Whedon will be part of the creative team behind a Marvel TV show on ABC.
Marvel hasn't set a release date for the much-anticipated sequel, however all of the central characters are signed up for the next edition of the series. Whedon wrote and directed The Avengers, earning praise from critics for being faithful to the source material while also helping to explain to non-comic book moviegoers with no more than a cursory knowledge of the superhero group The Avengers what the Marvel series is all about.
It'll be interesting to see where the sequel goes and if Whedon and Marvel are able to live up to The Avengers' $1.45 billion box office take. I know I'm not betting against them being able to surpass what they accomplished with the first film of the franchise.

New Trailer for This is 40
Tuesday August 7, 2012
Marriage, family, work, life, and getting older - all topics tackled in writer/director Judd Apatow's sort of sequel to Knocked Up: the 2012 comedy movie This is 40. Knocked Up centered on the unlikely relationship between Katherine Heigl as an entertainment reporter and Seth Rogen as a website creator, while the sequel shifts the focus to the married couple played by Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann.
Universal's just released a new trailer for the R-rated comedy which seems to be minus Rogen and Heigl but with Bridesmaids' Melissa McCarthy and Chris O'Dowd as well as Megan Fox. Yes, that Megan Fox.
